What is the JLPT?
The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is the most widely recognized Japanese language certification in the world. It is held twice a year (July and December) in countries around the globe. The test measures reading and listening comprehension across five levels.
N5 is the easiest level, suitable for beginners who can understand basic Japanese. N1 is the most difficult, requiring the ability to read newspapers and understand complex discussions. Most learners start with N5 and work their way up.
